On Wednesday April 16th my group and I went out to our plot. It is now spring so the weather was warmer than last time but it was still kind of cold outside. Last time we went to our plot nothing was growing at all and it was completely silent. There were no signs of any life except a very few small buds on some trees. This time we went new plants were growing from the ground although they were very small, all of the trees had buds and were starting to grow back leaves, and the leaf litter seemed to be less than last time. I also observed that there were chirping sounds. Since it’s getting warmer outside I think that the birds are starting to come back after migrating for the winter. (Morgan Morris)
Wednesday April 16: Today was our fourth time to visit our plot. The weather was a little bit warmer than the last time, that might be the reason that some new organisms were coming out. This time we didn’t take any pictures or collect any data, we just had two minutes’ observation. I didn’t see any big changes from the observation. But I did see some growing buds, and some new plants coming out from the ground. And I also could hear bird sing, and heard some frogs making noise. And what surprised me is the turkey tail mushroom, it was still there. I am really looking forward to see the next plot visit, I think it is going to have more changes next time we visit our plot. Wednesday April 16th: Today was the fourth day on our plot. As we approach the end of this plot project, it has been interesting to see all the different changes that can happen in nature. Today was just an observing day, however, in which we did not take measurements or collect data. Yet, although we simply used our senses to observe the plot, I could still see and hear the multiple changes that have happened. For example, prior to going out on the plots, I hypothesized that there would be a significant change among the organisms because of the warm weather that we have had. Even though it was not too significant, there were many apparent changes, such as leaves were beginning to bud from branches, new plants were growing from the ground, and we even heard the sounds of spring peepers. When I looked under the leaf litter on the ground, I could see the decomposition of the leaves were beginning to turn into soil as well. I am excited what will have happened to the plot the next time we visit, when there should be warmer weather. I am assuming there will be an abundance of leaves within our plot, as they will have time to grow and organisms will begin to come out. (Moss Rerkpattanapipat)
